Read more about Harper Lee at this website...... Click Above
Okay, so I know you guys were thinking that I had forgotten all about our blog, but I haven't. As you all know things have been very busy for me and you lately. Our school has been working hard to educate you as well as discipline you. Well,I am just going to stop right there and say...Answer one of three of the discussion questions for a class particpation grade of 100. Here is the criteria for answering these questions:
+You must answer the question completely using enough detail.
+ You must not mention anything that is negative or derrogative in your comment or response.
+You must make at least two references to the novel to support your answer if you want full credit 100. You have one week to get this activity done. Good Luck!!!!! After November 18, 2009, you will be too late.
If you meet all three of these criteria, you will receive a class participation grade of 100, so go for it guys!!!!!!
Here are your discussion questions:
1. Scout (the narrator) says that her father Atticus was related to almost every family in the town. In addition, she states that the Radleys, unlike other residents, kept to themselves. What conclusions can you draw about the people of Maycomb from these comments? Would you like to have lived in Maycomb? Explain.
2. Atticus advises Scout that the way to get along with someone else is to "climb into his skin and walk around in it." Comment on your reaction to this advice.
3. Dill says he thinks Boo Radley might feel better if he'd come out and "set a spell" with the children. Do you agree with Dill? Explain. Would you enjoy spending time with these three children? Why or why not?

ReplyDeleteYes I most certainly agree with Dill because Boo Radley has been in the house for a long time. He never comes out and everyone knows that if you stay in the house for a very long time you somethimes get bored because you will not have anyone to play with. I would love to play with Dill Scout and Jem because they seem fun to be out with.
ReplyDeleteyes i agree atticus because the only way you can make friends if you just get to know them well, you have to like tell lil funny jokes
ReplyDeletethis is for question 2

ReplyDelete2.I disagree with Atticus advice because the way to get along with someone is to spend time with that person and try to get to know that person.
3. Yes, because they always have Boo locked up in the house he can never come outside or play with the other children.Yes i would like spending time with these three children,I would because they are adventurist an they make up all types of games like "Boo Radley".These three kids sound like fun. by Jaricka Brown
ReplyDelete(3) I do agree with Dill because if your are alone in one place you tend to forget about the things outside.he was conformed to the house to keep him out of trouble. i also think being in the house can drive you insane to.i think boo readley should come outside and enjoy the fresh air and the new people (briana mccray)

ReplyDeleteThe conclusion of some of the people in Maycomb were stubborn, prejudice, mean, nice, active, and nice. No I would not have like to live in Maycomb, because during the time the civil rights movement was going on.
Yes I do agree with Dill. I agree with him because it's good to make friends with the local people. If I was their age I would like to spend time with them. They seem to have big imaginations. They would never be bored.

ReplyDeleteQuestion 2
This was good advice because to get along with someone you know the things he/she know, you must know the things that will make this person mad and try to avoid this conflict at all times. You must know when this person is really down or up lifting too. All Atticus is saying is if you want to get along with someone you must know that person very while and his background and try to relate to them.

ReplyDelete2.I think its good advice because you have to get to know people and hang around to know that person,he means like see how this person acts and stuff.
ReplyDeleteI agree with Dill because if u stay in the house for 15 years you can go crazy but if you are let out the house you would see how much fun you can have outside and i think that he would like Jem, Scout, and Dill because they always have fun games to play and they are never bored.

ReplyDeleteI agree with Atticus on this advice. The reason why I agree with it is because I think that in order to understand a person better or to relate to what they are going through you have to put yourself in their skin and walk around in it for a little while and see how it feels
DEMETRIUS....
ReplyDeleteYes,because he might would make friends with the othe people. I dont know if i would like to hang out with them cause they take to many risks. I think they would be good friends though.
This is for the people who did question 2 about Atticus's advice to Scout. Sense most of you said that the advice was good advice how can you use this advice when it comes to getting along with each other in class? Responses please for extra credit....
ReplyDeleteJohnny Stewart
ReplyDeleteI agree with what Atticus says. To know and get along with someone like Atticus does with his children, you have think about what the person is going through like the Radley's. If you put yourself in the person's shoes, you would know what it feels like and could think what they think.
For those of you who did question number 3, think about what happens in Chapter 7. What would you have done if you were Jem and Nathan Radley had lied about why he cemented the tree? Would you have been sad for Bood?
ReplyDeleteExplain what your attitude would be about the situation.
This is for Ms Bays i think to get a long with your classmates is to respect them and dont judge them because you dont know what they are going through so just respect each other alot of people like to judge people before they get to know them and when u judge somebody you dont know how they are going to take it. so when you know what people are going through dont judge.

ReplyDeleteI conclude that Atticus was very well known around the town growing up. He most likely had a mother that was a mother of the whole town and as close as they were, they are considered relatives. I would not like to live in Maycomb because I would not enjoy it. It is not enough action there.
To Shireka:
ReplyDeleteYou have to remember that the time period was different and what people considered fun during that time isn't what people consider fun now, so what the children did for fun would have probably been considered boring.
To Crishana:
ReplyDeleteI admire what you have said, and you are right. Before we judge people, we need to get to know them for who they are first.
I think Boo Radley would feel better if he came out the house. He would feel better because he hasnt been out the house in years. And I think he would have a blast with the three children.
ReplyDeleteIn the story I tink what they meant was. For you to talk about someone else or for you to downgrade someone or worry aout what what you thik not normal for you,you have to put yourself in their skin and think about what if it was you.
ReplyDeleteI agree with Dill because I would think the same thing he thought. If someone in my neighborhood didnt come outside I would want them to come out also.I would think that they were missing the world.Yes,I would hang out with these children if I was their age.The things they do are adventurous.
ReplyDeleteThis is TYJUAN..
ReplyDeleteI don't have a blog yet so i used this one.
I agree with Atticus because the only way you can get to know someone is to be in their shoes.
In order to understand a person and relate to them you have to know what their going through.

ReplyDelete1.) I say that most of the people might have many relatives that live close to them in that town instead of the relatives being further away. The Radleys stayed out of other families business and was not nosey.Others residents were not trying to snoop on people.Yes I would have liked to have lived in Maycomb because maybe my relatives would have lived so close in the town with me and I would not have to travel so far to visit them and it might be intersting place to live.
3.) I agree with Dill because Boo might not act so unusual if he tried to come out of the Radley house and play with Jem, Scout, and Dill. I would love to hang around Jem, Scout, and Dill because they are adventurous, silly, and daring.
ReplyDeleteQuestion 3
ReplyDeleteI definitely agree with Dill because someone like Boo who has been locked in a house for fifteen years does become depressed. So I think if Boo was to interact with the three children then it will take him out of the depression he is in. Dill,Scout, and Jem seem very fun and just full of life. I don't see any reason to not hang out with them. So my answer is I would absolutely hang out with them.
I like this story. I like the way the father, Atticus treats other people and his family. We don't know what some other people are going through. We need to put ourselves in their place to feel the way they are feeling. Sorry I'm late, but I couldn't get to the computer.
ReplyDeleteJudkrisha
I think this is a great story. You can't judge anybody by their color. You should treat other people the way you want to be treated. We shoudln't get into other people's business.

2. Atticus advises Scout that the way to get along with someone else is to "climb into his skin and walk around in it." Comment on your reaction to this advice.
ReplyDeleteLamonica Craig
When he says "climb into his skin and walk around in it", he means to look at they way they live their life and the reasons why they do the things they do. In order to judge someone you would have to get to know them first.
Vosheena Heags : Sorry it's late Ms.Bays.... Yes I agree with Dill because Boo Radley doesn't come out and he haven't been out in years. I think it will be fun playing with the children because they are very active of thinking about interested game to play....
